Save the Children New Zealand is delighted to offer a workshop with Professor Joan Durrant from the University of Manitoba in Canada.
Following a presentation from Joan, attendees were given the opportunity to work in small groups and apply the principles to guiding children’s behaviour in the family, in early childhood settings and in schools. There was also an opportunity to explore applications of the principles to communications and advocacy work including the development of parent information such as posters, pamphlets, websites and media releases.
All Black Joe Rokocoko swapped a rugby ball for colouring pens when he joined students at St Dominic’s Primary School in Blockhouse Bay to launch the first World Kids Colouring Day.
On Friday 23 May New Zealanders helped to raise much needed funds for those affected by Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar. Bunnings’ network of stores New Zealand wide joined forces with Bunnings stores in Australia to host Australasia’s biggest sausage sizzle with every cent raised donated directly to Save the Children’s appeal. The sausage sizzle managed to raise over $200,000 across New Zealand and Australia.
